The construction industry is one of the most physically demanding and hazardous fields, with workers facing numerous health and safety risks daily. From heavy machinery accidents to exposure to harmful substances, the dangers are ever-present. While traditional wellness programs focus on improving employee health through fitness, nutrition, and stress management, a more comprehensive approach integrates risk reduction strategies to ensure both physical well-being and job site safety.
At eight months pregnant with my first child, I walked into my bosss office, ready for a pivotal meeting. I had spent months designing a new crisis management program for our universityone that would improve student outcomes and reduce institutional risk. This was the moment Id learn whether my work would be implemented. I had poured everything into this project.

A recent study on the SSRI antidepressant vilazodone (VLZ) found it to be neurotoxic to mothers and to the fetus during pregnancy, negatively impacting outcomes across a wide variety of body systems. Although this study was performed on rats, it adds to a large body of research on the impact of psychiatric drugs in human pregnancy.
