RDG Planning & Design created an open, collaborative, and creative space for the Fusion Medical Staffing offices in Omaha, Nebraska. The officelayout is strategically planned to accommodate future expansions, allowing for seamless transitions in the use of space as the company’s needs evolve.
This intentional approach boosts creativity and teamwork, leading to higher engagement and job satisfaction across the board. Cons: Can result in a toxic environment at the workplace where people are expected to work in structures that do not allow creativity, flexibility, or even promote their well-being.
The open-office is great for work that requires high levels of communication and collaboration, but not so great for focused work. A 2011 review of more than 100 studies by organizational psychologist Matthew Davis found that open offices hurt attention spans, creativity, and productivity for certain types of work.
It showed that 68% of CEOs believe that their employees who play outside the office tend to be more creative in the workplace as well.
