Today while outside smoking (I spit when I smoke), my boss came to me and told me that if he ever found me spitting on the walk way again he would write me up.

I’ve recently started trying to learn the ropes at my dad’s small business. He has an office manager who runs the day to day business. My father depends on her totally to run the office, dispatch employees, and handle all bookkeeping. I don’t think this is legal. He has another idea.

Yet others like the office manager have an office. If I’m offered a job, I’d like to request that if at all possible an arrangement be made for an office for the HR manager. I work for a relatively small business, less than 40 employees. I don’t feel like this can be legal.

Let her know it’s illegal to allow people to work while they’re not being paid, and if people are reading and responding to work emails, that’s potentially a legal issue. I’m being called back to the office but I’m a single mom with no child care. I have worked for the same small business for 5-1/2 years as an office manager.
